Squadron Burgee Heraldry: The heraldry on display here against a traditional red/white/blue pennant design features an image of “Cap’n Ed”, Ed for education, symbolizing the primary mission of the USPS/ABC. Dressed in stylized garb of the Pacific Northwest seafarers, he is carrying a stylized ships lantern shining the light of wisdom that comes from participating in course work and squadron activities. The light from the lantern also represents the welcome and hospitality generally associated with the town of Friday Harbor on San Juan Island, the location of the 1854 'Pig War' between the United States and England. It is a very popular harbor for the many boats in South Puget Sound.
